Yakubu Yusuf Who Misappropraited N23.3 Billion Gets Only 2 Year Term In Prison

One of the six civil servants charged with alleged misappropriation of N33 billion Police pension fund in an Abuja High Court, John Yakubu Yusuf has been sentenced to two years imprisonment.
Justice Abubakar Talba also awarded an option of fine of the sum of N250, 000 on each of the three count charges which is to run concurrently with the charges.

Yusuf, who allegedly misappropriated N23.3 billion, pleaded guilty to the charges which are contrary to section 309 of the Penal Code Law.

He is also to forfeit the sum of N325 million and thirty-two choice properties scattered in Abuja and Gombe, Gombe State.
His counsel Maiyaki Theodore Bala told newsmen that his client will pay the fine of N750, 000 immediately because it is an order of the court.

Meanwhile the court has adjourned to February 26 for hearing in the other accused persons charged along with him in the alleged pension scam. They are: Atiku Abubakar Kigo, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service; Esai Dangabar, a retired director at the Aviation Ministry; and Ahmed Wada, a former deputy director of the Police Pension Office and now director in the Federal Ministry of Sports.
